Our Squads

We Have Different Squads For All Levels of Swimmers 

​Our swimmers are encouraged to strengthen both their resolve and commitment, to improve their technique, along with hard work, if they are to achieve their goals.

South Holderness Swimming Club are proud to provide a development pathway for swimmers of all abilities from early competitive swimmers through to National and International competition level. 

​Whether you’re an Olympic hopeful or a club swimmer who just wants to be the best they can, we have a programme for you.

The club has created a programme whereby swimmers, who are capable of reaching the very top of the sport, are given the best possible chance and environment to do so; just join one of our free trial sessions.

Dev Squad

Development Squad

Criteria: This squad is an introduction to the world of competitive swimming and aims to encourage new swimmers to develop the skills they need to progress and compete. These swimmers may swim up to three sessions per week.

Expectations: to swim three times a week and when ready, to compete in development galas.

Development Plus

Development Plus Squad

Criteria: to swim 100m of each stroke Br, Bk, 150m FC, 25m Fly. With correct starts, turns, finishes and dives, and have competed in development galas. The aim for development plus swimmers is to consolidate and improve on what they have already learnt from the development squad, developing their strength, stamina and competition skills.

Expectations: to swim 3 times a week and compete in club championships and appropriate coach recommended swims at Hull and District galas.

squad 1

Squad 1

Criteria: to swim 200m of each stroke, 50m Fly with correct starts, turns and finishes. The aim of the squad is to further develop the swimmers skill set, stamina and develop the ability to compete in open competitions.

Expectations: to swim four times a week and to compete in club championships and appropriate events at Hull and District galas. To compete in open graded galas on the recommendation of the coaches, these would usually be BC or ABC graded meets.

Squad 2

Criteria: to swim 200m of each stroke, 50m Fly with correct starts, turns and finishes. The aim of the squad is to further develop the swimmers skill set, stamina and develop the ability to compete in open competitions.

Expectations: to swim four times a week and to compete in club championships and appropriate events at Hull and District galas. To compete in open graded galas on the recommendation of the coaches, these would usually be BC or ABC graded meets.

Squad 3

Criteria: to swim 200m of each stroke, 100 Fly, with correct starts, turns and finishes, have at least 1 county time or be within 2 secs of achieving a time. The aim of the squad is to further develop the swimmers ability to train, build stamina and refine competition skills in order to build confidence when competing at open meets and possible attendance at county Championships.

Expectations: to swim at least four times a week and compete in club championships and Hull and District Galas. With coaches guidance attend open meets and where a swimmer has qualified, county Championships.

Squad 4

Criteria: to hold a current county Championship time or be within 2 seconds and the ability to complete all squad 4 training sessions. Squad 4 is elite, should the club have a long list of swimmers awaiting a squad 4 position, those swimmers that don’t attend every session will be moved to squad 3 unless they have a good reason for absence.

Expectations: to swim at least four times a week and compete in club championships, Hull and District galas, open meets and where a swimmer has qualified, county Championships, North East Regional and National competitions.
